Instructions

Encode and decode URLs clearly

3Copy converted link

Encode a parameter value separately from a URL

Spaces, & and / inside a value can be interpreted as URL structure. Component mode is for a single parameter value; full-URL mode preserves some structural characters.

An example to check

Input and settings

a b&c

Expected result

a%20b%26c

Choose component encoding. & becomes %26 rather than starting another parameter. Put the result after ?q= and use the URL parser to check that q recovers the original value.

Scope and limitations

  • Encoding twice turns % into %25. Check whether the input is raw text or already encoded before choosing a direction.
  • Component decoding here does not automatically treat + as a space. Use the URL parser to inspect form-style query strings.
