After completionGet displayable or readable HTML text.Paste text first

Distinguish displayed text from executable markup

HTML entities let special characters appear as text. Documentation can display a tag instead of having the browser interpret it as an element.

An example to check

Input and settings

Tom & Jerry

Expected result

<b>Tom & Jerry</b>

Encoding converts angle brackets and & into entities. Decoding restores the source, but inserting that result into HTML still requires context-appropriate handling.

Scope and limitations

 • Entity encoding is not complete XSS protection. HTML text, attributes, JavaScript and URL contexts require different rules.
 • Encoding twice turns < into &lt;. Identify the current representation before repeating transformations.
