Instructions

Find differences between two texts

Use for comparing text, configurations, code snippets, or contract paragraphs.

1Paste old and new text
2View additions, deletions, and changes
3Copy result or modify differences
After completionClearly see the difference between two contents.Paste two texts first

Find changed lines, then check their context

Compare copy, configuration or log excerpts. Put the old and new versions of the same material on opposite sides; blank lines and line endings can affect the comparison.

An example to check

Input and settings

Old: color=blue
New: color=green

Expected result

The line color=blue is replaced with color=green.

Inspect changed lines, then check that surrounding configuration still fits. A diff describes textual changes; it does not decide which value is correct for your application.

Scope and limitations

  • Equivalent JSON or code can produce a noisy diff when formatting differs. Format both versions first if needed.
  • Repeated passages can produce unintuitive line pairings. Review important changes passage by passage.
